Because we are located on Route 1, we are a great stopping place for those cruising north by car as well as motorcycle, or bike. The Bellmard can accommodate up to 18 guests, so we work well with small groups. We cater to guests with an interest in canoeing and kayaking the St. Croix River, fishing a huge lake system, ATV access to a good trail system, bird hunting, geo-caching and get-a-ways in the real Downeast area. Note that there is no charge for pets and there is no smoking inside the inn. Smoking is allowed outside.CLICK HERE FOR GOSSIP FROM THE KITCHEN
Our country inn has been part of the Town of Princeton since it was built in 1866.
It is a historic home which encompasses the whims of its short list of owners. First the Belmores, then the Mardaviches and the Butlers and most recently us, Sandra Smith and Doug Clements.
Our accommodations include a selection of 8 bedrooms that have a period decor. All the rooms have cable TV. Most of them sleep 2 guests. However we do have our crews quarters which has 3 single beds. The Inn also has a sitting room, a dinning room with a fireplace, a library, a large kitchen, screened in porch and museum. Also we offer wifi and off street parking.
The Bellmard Inn is located on four landscaped acres on Main Street within the small town of Princeton. Main Street is Route 1 and is very convenient to Grand Lake Stream, Indian Township, Baileyville, Calais, Eastport, the Canadian border or Danforth and Houlton on up the state. In town are two gas stations, a grocery store, hardware store, bank, health care clinic, post office, Princeton Municipal Airport as well as a public boat landing on Lewey Lake.
Lewey Lake flows into Long Lake and Big Lake in one direction and the Grand Falls Flowage and St. Croix River the other. This huge lake system offers excellent smallmouth bass fishing, kayaking, canoeing and bird and wild life watching.
